History Manipulation
Recently I got a message request
through messenger regarding my comment at some Facebook post. That person from
Sindh texted me that how can you say something against the history of your
country. Actually I commented on a post related to Bollywood movie Padmavat
that Alauddin Khilji was a very vulgar person and we’ve manipulated our history
and show our new generation that Muslims ruled on sub-continent with great
dignity which is one side of the coin. I wrote that please come out of dreams
and face the reality.
After
that what else I could expect from Pakistani nation, a lots and lots of
comments against me and some supporting, in fact a conversation started. Then I
just made one more comment stating a brief history of Alauddin Khilji that he invaded
with his army on a small state called Chittorgarh and sieged the state just for
the Queen of Chittorgarh “Rani Padmini” who was famous for her beauty.
Initially his demand was just to see the Queen face to face but after watching
her he decided to get her at any cost. The residents of Chittorgarh being weak and
incapable didn’t respond but after 8 months long besieged they decided to fight
until death. Khilji’s army being inevitable killed whole army and defeated
them. On the other hand Rani Padmini along with all women of Chittorgarh made a
huge fire and burnt themselves in that just to save themselves from the lust of
Khilji and his army. I also mentioned that during last days of Khilji’s life,
he fell in love with one of his male companions who helped him a lot during his
illness. Although it’s still a controversy that whether Khilji was a gay or
not.
Anyways
coming back to that message request which asked me that how you people of
Punjab go against the history taught to us as in Sindh if we do that we are
considered traitors. Well I replied to him that it’s not the matter of Punjab
or Sindh. It’s the rule of history that we should study both perspectives even
if the other is against us.
Well
this is what happened throughout the history, it was manipulated by the
historians according to their wishes. From our religion to country whole
history was not exactly same as it happened. Even Islamic history is
controversial on different matters. And on the basis of that different sects
emerged which today are enemies of each other. As far as our country’s history
is concerned then it also couldn’t get saved from such manipulations. We tell
our new generation that we won all the wars and our nation has lived with
dignity since our independence and this and that. Well somehow it’s good to
boost the morale of our new generations but we must tell them the reality that
what mistakes we did in past which caused us lose. So they don’t repeat the
same mistakes again under same circumstances. The biggest of blunders we do is
that even if we accept the defeat we consider and accuse the third person as
cause of our defeat.
Historical
negationism is found in every nation whether they are developed or under
developed. And if history wouldn’t have been changed than a lot of thing would
have been different and mankind didn’t had to face such loses. Still it’s not
late if we stop doing this our generations will have much better life than us.
Anyways the reply of that person who texted me was just OK.
